Estrogen and progesterone are two very important hormones present in the body of women. These two hormones are produced naturally by the ovaries. When menopause occurs between the ages of 40 to 60, it causes reduction in the production of estrogen and progesterone in the body of women. Women who get their both ovaries removed or fallopian tube and uterus removed; may suffer from early menopause due to hormonal imbalance. Certain medical procedures like chemotherapy, radiation therapy and Tamoxifen may also cause severe damage to the ovaries. It may lead to early menopause caused by chemical reactions. In such cases, periods of women stops and in some cases even if they return, women find themselves infertile. Tamoxifen which is given to breast cancer patients reduces the production of estrogen in the body of women. This is also one o the main causes of early menopause. Excessive loss of weight may also cause early menopause.
