Symptoms of Perimenopause, Menopause, and Postmenopause?

Perimenopause refers to the phase before the actual menopause occurs to women. Perimenopause generally occurs between the ages of 35 to 45 in most of the women. It should also be noticed that the time for perimenopause differ from woman to woman. Now, we know about perimenopause, we can talk about its symptoms. In perimenopause phase, a woman may experience hot flashes, sleeping problems and coldness. Women may get very moody, irritable, anxious and suffer from depression in some cases. In perimenopausal phase, the sexual desire of a woman declines. Skin may get dry and hairs may be lost in excess due to perimenopause. Dryness in vagina is another symptom of perimenopause. Incontinence, heart palpitation and irregularity in periods are some other symptoms of perimenopause.

Menopause indicates stoppage of menstrual cycle of a woman. Once a woman reaches the phase of menopause, she becomes infertile. There are a large number of symptoms of menopause. Most of the symptoms of menopause are similar to the symptoms of perimenopause. Menopausal women feel no urge for sex. Sudden tears and severe mood changes are two other symptoms of menopause. Women who reach menopause phase gets tired very easily. Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms of menopause. Menopausal women may also suffer from lack of concentration and mental confusion. Many women also put on weight due to menopause. Rapid heartbeat, panic disorders, headaches are some other symptoms of menopause.



If we talk about the symptoms of postmenopause then they are experienced by women usually between forty five to fifty five years of age. Most of the symptoms of postmenopause are same as the symptoms of menopause. Postmenopausal women may experience mood swings, sleeping problems, anxiety, loss of hair, increased irritability etc. If we discuss longer effects of postmenopause on health then it may include heart problems due to increased level of cholesterol in body of postmenopausal women. Bone loss may also occur to women who are in their postmenopausal phase.
